Bought Moody 425 – Robert & Carla – (Canada)
We wanted to drop you a note and let you both know how pleased Carla and I were with the service you provided us. As well we thought it appropriate that we give you a letter of recommendation for others that may be wanting to use the services of a quality broker.
Buying a sailboat thousands of miles away from your home port can involve a lot of risk and stress unless you are dealing with honest, trustworthy and professional yacht brokers.
My wife and I were fortunate to find the right yacht, in the right place, listed by the right brokers.
In December of 2012 we answered an internet ad for a Moody 425 listed with Williams and Smithells Ltd in Lefkas, Greece. The listing broker was Mark Ellyatt and he was stationed in their offices in Great Britain.
Mark was wonderful to deal with and very enthusiastic even though many brokers would not have wasted too much time on an enquiry from Canada, halfway across the world. All our questions were answered in a timely fashion and no detail was over looked. Mark was able to gain our trust almost immediately and that went a long way when we sent a substantial deposit on the boat subject to viewing it.
When my wife and I arrived to view the yacht we were introduced to Stephen McIntosh the local broker in Lefkas, Greece. Stephen went out of his way to ensure that all the last minute loose ends were tidied up and did a wonderful job of explaining each and every detail that we would be dealing with.
My wife and I came away from the long distance yacht buying experience really pleased with the whole process, it could not have been handled any better. It takes a lot of experience to handle a long distance purchase and you’d have to look far and wide to find a more capable team than Mark and Stephen.
Cheers, Robert and Carla
